An increasingly large volume of TV content is available to a modern-day man. Consequently, a lot of time is spent looking for appropriate content and not watching a movie or broadcast of interest. The recommendation system aims to propose to a person potentially interesting product or service, narrowing down the range of services and products available, making it easier to choose and offering person something he would most likely want to see or buy. The goal is to create a recommender system for interactive TV content that would calculate individual content recommendations for each user. The calculations would be based on the viewing habits of Tet TV customers, where available TV program viewing data and electronic program guide (EPG) metadata supplemented with the data available on the web would be used. The challenge in TV content recommendations is the small amount of data available on TV content, poor EPG data, and the limited time span at which the content is available on television.
