The theoretical part of this paper looks at colour perception and preference, its relationship to emotions, education, belonging, and principles of using colour in user interface design. The author focuses on the field of study as a possible impacting factor of colour preference. In this paper, the author conducted quasi-experimental research, using a survey as the data collection method. The survey collected data about the preference of ten colours, and assessments of eight emotion scales. The analysis was done with linear regression models. The author observed statistically significant differences in these assessments between some of the study fields. These observations show a possible relationship between the field of study, colour preference, and colour perception in educational interfaces. From the results of this research, the author programmed a prototype of a tool that shows the colour for an educational interface design, based on user input data – target audience gender, faculty, average age, and colour emotion scale values.
