The topic of the qualification paper is ‘’Promotion of cognitive processes for 5-6 year old children through nature observations’’ The aim of the research is to study the cognitive devlopment of 5-6 year old children in the process of nature observations. Today, the world is being taken over by digitalisation where nature can be seen on TV, computer or telephone screens. There is a loss of interest in all living, natural phenomena and cognitive processes, because everything can be seen and read through devices. Children do not feel the presence of nature. Nature can be felt physically, but the child will not feel the smell of nature through the TV screen or car window. When looking at drawn or photographed animals, the child will not recognize a real animal. Observations show that the current generation of children are replacing the process of learning about nature at preschool age with spending time indoors, where the latest technologies are used – computers, smartphones, tablets and as a result children begin to lose interest in nature. The teacher must be able to offer a variety of techniques and methods to enable children to take interest in the process of learning about nature. All of these mentions justified the choice and the topicality of the given research. The study consists of two parts – theoretical and empirical. The first part of the work theoretically reveals the activities of the cognitive process from the point of view of different authors. In the second part, teachers and parents are surveyed and questionares are compiled about nature observations. A practical study on the promotion of cognitive development in the process of nature observations is being carried out. Qualification work consists of 46 pages, 19 charts, 5 images, as well as 31 literary sources
