Aptauja sastāv no piecām personības iezīmju skalām: Ekstraversija, Neirotisms, Apzinīgums, Atvērtība, Labvēlīgums. The aim of this Bachelor’s thesis is to investigate whether and how alcohol use patterns and alcohol use motives are related to personality traits in young adults aged 18 to 25. Study participants included 76 young adults, of whom 73,7% are women and 26,3% are men. During the study, respondents were asked to fill out a form online, based on three surveys: 1) The Drinking Motives Questionnaire – Revised (DMQ-R; Cooper, 1994), which measures different types of motivation for alcohol use. This survey consists of four motive scales: Coping, Social, Enhancement, Conformity; 2) Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT; Babor, Higgins-Biddle, Saunders & Monteiro, 2001), which is used to measure alcohol use patterns and allows to identify alcohol addiction, the degree of dangerous alcohol use and early signs of alcoholism. 3) Big Five Inventory ([BFI]; Benet-Martinez & John, 1998), which looks at personality traits. The survey consists of five scales, which represent five personality traits: Extraversion, Neuroticism, Conscientiousness, Openness, Agreeableness. The results of the study show that there is a positive correlation between the frequency of alcohol use, frequency of alcohol use in high intensity, the risk of alcohol addiction and all four motivations to use alcohol – coping, enhancement, social, conformity. The amount of alcohol used is positively correlated to three motives of alcohol use – coping, enhancement, social. The results also show that there is a positive relationship between neuroticism and coping motivation to use alcohol, and that there is a negative relationship between conscientiousness and frequency of alcohol use in high intensity. As well as that there is a positive relationship between enhancement motivation to use alcohol and frequency of alcohol use in high intensity.
