Lai arī sākotnēji pastāvēja šaubas par to, vai kriptovalūta būs dzīvotspējīga, tomēr kriptovalūtai ir izdevies iemantot sabiedrības interesi. Līdz ar tās straujo izplatību, kriptovalūtas aizvien biežāk tiek izmantotas arī noziedzīgu darbību veikšanā. Kriptovalūtu joma ir jauna, sarežģīta un maz pētīta. Arī likums nesniedz viennozīmīgas atbildes rīcībai ar kriptovalūtu, tādējādi praksē ne vienmēr tiek rasti viennozīmīgi un tiesiski risinājumi. Darbā secīgi atklāti kriptovalūtas jēdziens, darbības principi, glabāšanas veidi. Šāda izpratne nepieciešama, lai analizētu un konstatētu, kādas izmeklēšanas darbības Kriminālprocesa likums pieļauj veikt ar kriptovalūtu un piekļuves tai līdzekļiem. Tāpat darbā vērtēti aspekti, kas saistāmi ar nesen spēkā stājušos regulējumu par obligātu tūlītēju kriptovalūtas realizāciju aresta uzlikšanas gadījumā. Although there were initial doubts about the viability of cryptocurrency, it has managed to capture public interest. With its rapid spread, cryptocurrencies are increasingly being used for criminal activities. The field of cryptocurrencies is new, complex and little studied. The law also does not provide a clear-cut answer for dealing with cryptocurrencies, so that in practice there are not always precised and legal solutions. The work successively reveals the concept of cryptocurrency, the principles of its operation, and the types of storage. Such understanding is necessary to analyse and establish what investigative actions the Criminal Procedure Law allows to be carried out with cryptocurrency and the means of accessing it. The work also assesses the aspects related to the recently enacted regulation on mandatory immediate realisation of cryptocurrency in case of arrest.
