The author of the paper Elīna Laudama-Žagare' s qualification work "Promoting the development of fine motor skills in 2-3 years old children by using modelling materials" aims to explore the improvement of general fine motor development in 2-3 years old children working with modelling materials in Preeschool "X", finding out, whether regular and systematic children's work with modelling materials contributes to the development of children's fine motor skills in general, not only in working process with them. From 01.03.22 till 31.05.22 the author of the paper conducted the pedagogical activity, where initially various sources about the development of children at this stage of age were analyzed. Based on them, 4 achievable results for the assessment of general children's fine motor skills were defined, which were evaluated in 4 play-lessons. This was followed by regular and systematic children's work with different types of modelling materials during 20 play-lessons, improving the development of fine motor skills, where children were evaluated at the beginning and end of the research. At the end of author’s pedagogical research activity, 4 play-lessons were repeatedly offered in the pre-defined achievable results for the evaluation of general fine motor skills at the end of the study, where it was proven that regular and systematic children's work with various types of modelling materials contributes the development of children's fine motor skills in general, because modelling materials are binding on children's interest, they promote self-expression and self-directed learning, by being able to keep children's attention to the activity for a long time and combining the emotional pleasure by doing while learning. The work consists of 162 pages, 19 images, 4 tables, 1 proposal, 43 appendices and 26 bibliographic items. Key words: modelling materials, fine motor skills, regularity, variety, play-lesson, self-expression, self-directed learning.
