Each year, a certain number of criminal proceedings are accepted under the supervision of prosecutors. Taking into account that the number of criminal offenses is decreasing, the number of cases under the supervision of prosecutors is also decreasing. However, the supervision and control implemented by prosecutors remains and remains a rather topical topic, because without effective supervision, gaps and errors often appear in the investigation. The aim of the bachelor's work is to study the supervision and control of the prosecutor's activities, as a result, analyzing whether the regulation included in the criminal procedure law is effective enough and whether it could be improved. In order to achieve the goal, the definition of supervision and control is examined, the duties of a supervising prosecutor, the highest in office, the chief prosecutor, which are determined in the Criminal Procedure, are analyzed, Latvian practice is analyzed, foreign regulations are compared with Latvian ones, and Latvian prosecutors are interviewed. During the research, the author puts forward conclusions and proposals that could help to improve the effectiveness of supervision implemented by prosecutors in Latvia.
