Abstract

Diplomdarbā autore aplūko studentu iesaisti, tās būtību un pieejas, kā arī metodes, kas palīdz uzlabot skolēnu iesaistīšanos, mācoties angļu valodu, izmantojot drāmas aktivitātes klasē. Autore uzskata, ka skolēni var sasniegt labākus rezultātus svešvalodu apguvē, piedaloties dramaturģijā, apgūstot jaunu vārdu krājumu. Pašreizējā darbā tiek pētīti 5. klases skolēnu iesaistīšanās veidi un faktori, kas ietekmē iesaistīšanos angļu valodas apguvē un runāšanā, izmantojot drāmas aktivitātes. Strādājot skolā ar 5. klases skolēniem, autore atrada pierādījumus tam, ka dramaturģijas aktivitātes pozitīvi ietekmēja skolēnu vispārējo iesaisti, kā arī iesaistīšanos vārdu krājuma apguvē. Darbs atklāj, ka tādu izaicinošu paņēmienu kā interaktīvā komunikācija un radošas diskusijas pielietošana var veicināt studentu iesaisti un attīstīt viņu kompetenci svešvalodu apguvē. In the Diploma paper the author studies students’ engagement, its essence and approaches, which help to enhance students’ engagement while learning English via drama activities in the classroom. The focus is on understanding the essence of student engagement and exploring various approaches and techniques that can enhance engagement levels. The author asserts that students can achieve better outcomes in foreign language acquisition by actively participating in drama activities, particularly when learning new vocabulary. The study specifically investigates engagement patterns and influencing factors among Grade 5 students who engage in drama activities to learn and speak English. The research employs a case study to gather relevant data. An interview with the observer teacher asses the engagement levels in drama activities incorporated into the learning English vocabulary. A questionnaire is conducted with the students to explore their engagement regarding vocabulary learning using drama activities. The findings indicate a positive correlation between engagement in learning vocabulary and the utilization of drama activities in the classroom. The students demonstrated a high degree of activity across cognitive, emotional, and behavioral domains during lessons that incorporated drama activities. Notably, the study revealed that challenging techniques such as interactive communication and creative discussions had a significant impact on enhancing students' engagement and fostering their competence in foreign language acquisition. These results hold implications for teachers who are interested in incorporating drama activities to enhance student engagement in the English classroom.
