This bachelor’s thesis examines how copyright applies to the results of artificial intelligence activity in Latvia, the European Union and beyond. At the moment, in Latvia, the results of artificial intelligence activity are not protected by copyright, therefore the aim of the work is to analyse possible solutions and to propose a solution that, according to the author, is the most suitable for the legal system of the Republic of Latvia. The work examines aspects of creative activity and authorship of artificial intelligence, which raise complex questions about the nature of creative activity, as well as the role of human contribution in the process of creating work. After analysing the legal acts of the European Union, USA, Great Britain, and Latvia, as well as discussions in the legal science field, the author puts forward a proposal to introduce a sui generis regime in the Copyright Law of Latvia, taking in account the new role of artificial intelligence in the creative industry.
