The theme of the bachelor's diploma thesis – "Assessment of hand hygiene in the department of endocrinology". The topicality of the thesis is determined by the fact that hand hygiene is an important part of care and treatment processes, as well as one of the most important measures for the prevention of infectious diseases in medical institutions. Hygienic washing and disinfection of hands is a relatively simple process to implement, and all health professionals are aware of the importance of observing hand hygiene. But despite this, according to the WHO data, at least 1 of 10 hospitalized patients have suffered from any type of infectious disease associated with the provision of medical assistance in inpatient settings (1,75). The purpose of the research is to evaluate hand hygiene in the endocrinology department. The tasks of the research: to explore and analyze the scientific literature about hand hygiene; to assess adherence to hand hygiene in the endocrinology department using the observation protocol; collect and analyze the data obtained in the research; investigate and analyze the consumption of disinfectant in ml per patient per day in the endocrinology department in 2022, and compare with the data of the study conducted in 2021; develop conclusions and suggestions. Hypothesis raised- in practice, medical workers observe and perform hand hygiene in accordance with the established requirements that must be observed when caring for and treating patients. Summarizing and analyzing the results of the study, the bachelor's thesis found that the overall compliance of hand hygiene or its observance and performance among medical personnel in the study reached 81%, which exceeds the average compliance level of 50%. After 5 moments of hand hygiene, the highest rates are after contact with a patient (93%) and after contact with patients' biological fluids (92%). But the lowest rate is before contact with the patient (50%). According to the obtained results, it can be concluded that medical workers observe hand hygiene best - after contact with the patient, while the worst - before contact with the patient. In the research it was concluded that the amount of disinfectant used in the endocrinology department is 90.9 ml per day per patient, which is insufficient. Performing average calculations, the optimal number of hand disinfection times per day in care of one patient would be 30 times, which would be 150 ml of hand sanitizer per day per patient. Despite the fact that hand hygiene has always received a lot of attention, there is a lot of talks and information about it, the results are still relatively low, considering the known potential health problems and complications. Based on the results, we can conclude that observing hand hygiene does not lose its relevance. Research method - quantitative, non-experimental research method used in the bachelor diploma. Research instrument - observation protocol and analysis of consumed hand sanitizer.
