The aim of the bachelor thesis "Burnout syndrome in Latvian 4th year nursing students" is to find out the burnout syndrome in Latvian 4th year nursing students. The relevance of the topic is based on the fact that it is vital for the Latvian medical sector to maintain the emotional well-being of medical students already during their studies. Moreover, practical observation shows that some student nurses are already actively involved in the practical working environment, thus putting a great strain on their psychological health. The objectives of the study are to review Newman's theory on the factors contributing to burnout in nurses, to describe the theoretical aspects of burnout, to develop a research instrument for 4th year nursing students - a questionnaire using The Maslach Burnout Inventory, to conduct a study of 4th year nursing students in Latvia, to develop a questionnaire using The Maslach Burnout Inventory. The results of the survey were statistically processed and compared with the literature data, conclusions about the burnout syndrome in 4th year nursing students were drawn and proposals for preventive measures were made. Research hypothesis: at least one quarter out of 100 4th year nursing students in Latvia show signs of burnout syndrome. Type of study: quantitative, cross-sectional descriptive and correlational study. Research instrument: a questionnaire consisting of socio-demographic questions and including the Maslach Burnout Inventory. The results show that the first signs of burnout among nursing students already appear in the last year of their studies, and this leads to the prediction that in the future burnout will affect a large proportion of nurses at different stages of their professional life, and that they will exceed even 50%. Real burnout is unlikely to reach most of the students, but the risks of burnout and its first symptoms are already visible in some students.
