The theme of the bachelor's thesis is "Public attitude towards colorectal cancer screening." The significance of the topic is determined by the fact that the incidence of malignant tumors is increasing all over the world. Colorectal or bowel cancer is the third most common oncological disease in Latvia and the second most common cause of death among the Latvian population. Every year more than 1000 people fall ill with it and in about half of the cases the disease is detected late. In the case of oncological diseases, preventive screening is important, which allows you to diagnose the disease in a more timely manner. According to statistics, since the introduction of the state-paid colorectal cancer screening program in 2009, the responsiveness of the population to participation in cancer screening has been increasing every year, which leads to the conclusion that the attitude of the population to the preventive test has changed. The purpose of the work is to clarify the public's attitude to colorectal cancer screening. To achieve the goal, tasks have been set to analyze the literature on colorectal cancer, colorectal cancer screening methods and the possibility of performing those, to analyze the theory of B. Newman's health care system in relation to the topic of bachelor's thesis, to develop a research tool – a questionnaire, to conduct a study among the population that fits into the target audience for bowel cancer screening, as well as to collect and analyze the obtained data and draw conclusions. A hypothesis was put forward for the work - the public's attitude towards colorectal cancer screening is positive. As a result of the study, it was found that the attitude of the population to colorectal cancer screening is different. Residents find that they are positive about timely diagnosis of colorectal cancer, taking a test, however, it is practically proven that most of them do not conduct tests.
