Bachelor’s thesis – inpatient care issues after bariatric surgery. Actualization of thesis provides that adiposity is global problem that tends to increase. Also, that is a global society problem because of obesity disease which has almost tripled in recent years. The main solution to prevent obesity disease is to do bariatric surgery where you can reduce stomach volume. After that the patient can reduce overweight. This surgery has few advantages as - minimally invasive and you need less time for recovery. The role of the nurse in the postoperative period is important because nurse can see complications after the surgery. A nurse needs to be with additional knowledge of bariatric surgery’s specifics just to give a quality and comprehensive care. The purpose of the work is to find out and explore the most common care problem in bariatric surgery. Targets have been set for achievement tasks to analyse scientific literature about overweight problem in the society also bariatric surgery meaning and specifics. Also, analyse D.Oremas theory about bariatric surgery and make working tools also do interview with nurses which are working exactly with bariatric surgery. Analyse and maintain results about interview with nurses. Make conclusions about health care problems and tasks to do after bariatric surgery. Author made a research question – what are the main specific health care problems after the bariatric surgery when nurses need to deal with them? The research instrument was qualitative research method – 13 interview questions and 10 practice nurses which all of them are dealing with patients after the bariatric surgery. After maintaining results of the research, author found that the most common health care problems after bariatric surgery is pain which comes from surgical wounds and digestive tract problems. Also, changes of temperature and lack of breath. The main nurse job is to deal with health complications and problems after the bariatric surgery. Author found out that nurses might have different job approaches how to deal with health care after surgery but mainly it depends on nurse job experience. Key words: obesity, bariatric surgery, health care problems, postoperative period, patient education.
