The topic of the bachelor's thesis is taking care of pediatric patients with atopic dermatitis in outpatient practice. The topic is relevant because the prevalence of atopic dermatitis is increasing worldwide, but not all atopic dermatitis patients and patients' parents know how to properly take care for the skin of atopic dermatitis patients. And this is where the nurse can help by educating patients and their parents and showing them how to properly take care of the skin, affected by atopic dermatitis. The aim of this work is to clarify how the care is taken for pediatric patients with atopic dermatitis in outpatient practice. The tasks of the work are to make a research and analysis of the literature on atopic dermatitis, its clinical view, treatment options, with an emphasis on skin care and local therapy, as well as to make a research and analysis of scientific literature of taking care of patients with atopic dermatitis and their parents’ education, to clarify the importance of nurses in this context. Apply Dorothea Orem's theory of self-care in bachelor's thesis development. Interview 10 respondents, collect and analyze the obtained data, make conclusions and develop possible proposals. A research question was raised – How is taken care of pediatric patients with atopic dermatitis in outpatient practice? In order to answer the research question, the qualitative research method was chosen as the basic research method, the research tool – interview questions. Respondents – 10 parents of children with atopic dermatitis. The interview was taking a place at dermatology "x" clinic in Riga. A total of 11 interview questions were asked, the answers to the interview were collected and analyzed. The research question was answered. In outpatient practice, the nurse has rarely taken care of the skin of a child with atopic dermatitis. The outpatient practice does not have a special atopic dermatitis cabinet, where patients with atopic dermatitis can be cared for, so it is desirable to open an additional special atopic dermatitis cabinet, because all parents of children with atopic dermatitis would like nurses to educate them about how to take care of their child's skin and show them how to do it properly. Keywords: atopic dermatitis, outpatient practice, care, pediatrics.
