Bakalaura darba tēma: Pacientu fiziskā komforta nodrošināšana pēcoperācijas periodā intensīvās terapijas nodaļā. Teorētiskā daļa sastāv no 68 lappusēm. The topic of the bachelor thesis: Ensuring physical comfort of patients in the postoperative period in the intensive care unit. Theoretical part consists of 68 pages. The total length of the thesis is 140 pages. The study consists of theoretical part and the empirical part. The theoretical part consists of 6 chapters and 7 subchapters. The empirical part consists of 1 chapter and 3 subchapters. There are 9 annexes. The content analysis is presented in the empirical part in the form of contantanalysis in tables, and of the workout of interview data. After the research and the processing of the interview data, the recommendations were produced in the form of a booklet. Topic actuality: the topic is relevant because the number of surgical procedures continues to increase every year. According to the Health Statistics Database, the number of surgical operations in inpatient and outpatient medical facilities is increasing. One of the topical issues in the healthcare system in Latvia and in the European Union is ensuring the comfort of patients after surgery in intensive care units. Providing comfort and care to patients improves their recovery period and quality of life. Aim of the study: to investigate the physical comfort of patients in the postoperative period in the intensive care unit. Research objectives: 1. To collect and analyse the literature on physical comfort of patients in the postoperative period in the intensive care unit. 2. To work out the instrument for research - an interview. 3. To collect and analyse the data obtained in the study. 4. To draw conclusions. 5. To develop recommendations (booklet). Research question: How is physical comfort provided to post-operative patients in the intensive care unit? Research instrument: Interview questions. The study was carried out using a qualitative research method - a 14-question interview with general nurses working in the intensive care unit and caring for patients after surgery. In the theoretical part, the author describes the literature sources on patients' needs and factors causing discomfort. Analyses the provision of care using Dorothea (Elizabeth) Orem's theory of self-care needs and Katharine (Kathy) Kolcaba's Comfort Theory. As a result of the study it was established that general nurses provide the patient the physical comfort, observation and assessment of physical parameters, performs medical manipulations, care management and patient education.
