Somatostatin analogues are the main choice in the drug therapy of pituitary neuroendocrine tumors. Patients often have complaints about disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. There are currently no studies on how somatostatin analogue therapy affects the composition and function of the microbiome in PitNET patients. During SSA therapy fecal samples were collected from patients at three time points. As part of the Master's thesis, shotgun massive parallel sequencing was performed and the general taxonomic and functional differences of the intestinal metagenome of PitNET patients were characterized. The obtained results show that there are significant differences in the functional gut microbiome of the patient group. The abundance of Akkermansia muciniphila and Prevotella coprimenta in patients treated with SSA changes during therapy.
