Latvijas jauniešu attieksme pret valsts aizsardzības dienestu

Abstract

Maģistra darba tēma ir “Latvijas jauniešu attieksme pret valsts aizsardzības dienestu”. Darba mērķis bija noskaidrot, kāda ir Latvijas jauniešu attieksme pret gaidāmo valsts aizsardzības dienestu. Lai sasniegtu izvirzīto mērķi, tika izmantota kvantitatīvā pētniecības metode. Pielietojot tiešsaistes aptaujas metodi, tika aptaujāti 381 jaunieši vecumā no 18 līdz 27 gadiem, kuriem ir LR pilsonība. Darba teorētiskais ietvars sastāv no valsts aizsardzības dienesta raksturojuma, ASV sociologa Čārlza Konstantīna Moskosa institucionālā/profesionālā modeļa raksturojuma, Džona Eigmeja konceptuālā ietvara jauniešu motivācijas faktoriem pievienoties militārajai jomai raksturojuma, kā arī tika raksturots patriotisms un gatavība aizstāvēt valsti Latvijas sabiedrībā. Vieni no galvenajiem rezultātiem liecina, ka kopumā aptaujātie jaunieši vidēji vērtē valsts aizsardzības dienesta ieviešanu Latvijā, nepaužot lielu atbalstu vai noraidījumu. Visbiežāk jaunieši ir piekrituši tam, ka izpildot dienestu, iesauktais apgūs kādas noderīgas prasmes dzīvei (66,4 %), kā arī tam, ka valsts aizsardzības dienests ir nepieciešams, lai stiprinātu valsts aizsardzību un drošību (65,1 %). Vēl vieni no galvenajiem rezultātiem liecina, ka absolūtais vairākums aptaujāto jauniešu (72,7 %) neapsver iespēju pietiekties brīvprātīgi dienestā un 39,1 % aptaujāto jauniešu neizvēlētos nevienu no esošajiem valsts aizsardzības dienesta izpildes veidiem, ja viņiem būtu izvēles iespēja.

The topic of the master’s thesis is “Attitude of Latvian youth towards the State Defence Service”. The objective of the research is to ascertain the viewpoint of Latvian youth regarding the forthcoming State Defence Service. To accomplish this objective, a quantitative research approach was applied. A total of 381 individuals, aged between 18 and 27 and holding citizenship in the Republic of Latvia, were surveyed through an online questionnaire. The theoretical framework of the study consists of an in-depth characterization of the State Defence Service, the description of the Institutional and Occupational model of the American sociologist Charles Constantine Moskos and the characteristics of the motivational factors influencing young individuals to pursue a military career, as outlined in John Eighmey's conceptual framework. Lastly, the study delves into the notions of patriotism and the willingness to safeguard the nation within Latvian society. One of the primary findings indicates that, in general, the surveyed young individuals maintain a neutral stance regarding the implementation of the State Defence Service in Latvia, showing neither significant support nor outright rejection. The majority of young people (66.4%) agreed that participating in the service would equip conscripts with valuable life skills. Furthermore, a significant proportion (65.1%) acknowledged that the State Defence Service is necessary in fortifying national defence and ensuring security. Another of the noteworthy result indicates that the majority of the surveyed young individuals (72.7%) do not consider voluntarily enrolment in the service, and a considerable percentage (39.1%) would not opt for any of the existing forms of the State Defence Service if given the choice.
