Forumi un kultūras kapitāls: kādēļ cilvēki brīvprātīgi moderē forumus internetā

Abstract

Mūsdienu sabiedrībā saziņa nav vairs iedomājama bez digitālajām tehnoloģijām. Digitālo vidi un tajā atrodamos forumus, kas bieži vien veido tiešsaistes kopienas, izmanto neskaitāms daudzums cilvēku. Lai nodrošinātu šajos forumos drošu vidi to lietotājiem – kopienas dalībniekiem – daži no šiem dalībniekiem veic brīvprātīgu moderēšanas darbu. Šī pētījuma galvenais mērķis bija noskaidrot moderatoru motivāciju veikt šāda veida darbu. Lai veiktu pētījumu, tā pamatā tika izmantota Pjēra Burdjē (Pierre Bourdieu) kultūras kapitāla teorija. Pēc pētījuma veikšanas var secināt, ka intervēto moderatoru galvenais motivācijas iemesls ir kopienas labklājības un interešu uzturēšana un attīstība, pat ja šajā statusā moderatori sākotnēji nebija plānojuši nokļūt.

It is impossible nowadays to imagine connecting with others in a modern society without the use of digital technologies. There is an unfathomable number of people that use the digital space and, thus, the forums you can find on it, that sometimes create online communities. To guarantee a safe space for the community, some of the forum users become volunteer moderators. The goal for this research was to find out what is the motivation to do such work voluntarily. Pierre Bourdieu’s theory of cultural capital was used as the basis of the research. After conducting the research, it can be concluded that the main reason to do volunteer work as a moderator was keeping the community’s environment safe and the common interests met, even if the moderator status was gained unintentionally.
