Etniskās identitātes manifestācija kā performance

Abstract

Šajā pētījumā aplūkota etniskās identitātes loma Austrālijas latviešu diasporā Melburnā, īpaši pievēršoties tam, kā tā manifestējas trešās paaudzes vidū. Pētījums pēta centrālo jautājumu par to, kā etniskā identitāte tiek izteikta ar performatīvās prakses palīdzību. Kur tika konstatēts, ka valoda, mūzika un deja, apģērbs, svētki, festivāli un pasākumi, kā arī darbs ir galvenās prakses, caur kurām Austrālijas trešās paaudzes latvieši uztur un veido savu latviešu identitāti. Valoda būdama kā svarīgākā no šīs manifestācijas. Šīs performatīvās prakses ne tikai stiprina kultūras saites un piederības sajūtu, bet arī rada robežas diasporas kopienā, tāpēc pētījumā uzsvērts, cik svarīgi ir panākt līdzsvaru starp kultūras saglabāšanu un atvērtību dažādībai, lai nodrošinātu iekļaušanu Austrālijas latviešu kopienā. Izprotot šo dinamiku, ir iespējams izveidot vidi, kurā tiek vērtēta individuāla izpausme, vienlaikus saglabājot kolektīvo identitāti un kultūras mantojumu.

This study examines the role of ethnic identity in the Australian Latvian diaspora in Melbourne, focusing specifically on how it manifests itself among the third generation. The study explores the central question of how ethnic identity is expressed through performative practices. Where it was established that language, music and dance, clothing, celabrations, festivals and events, as well as work, are the main practices through which third-generation Latvians in Australia maintain and form their Latvian identity. Language being the most important of this manifestation. These performative practices not only strengthen cultural bonds and a sense of belonging, but also create boundaries within the diaspora community, so the study emphasizes the importance of achieving a balance between cultural preservation and openness to diversity in order to ensure inclusion in the Australian Latvian community. By understanding these dynamics, it is possible to create an environment that values individual expression while preserving collective identity and cultural heritage.
