Atslēgvārdi: ilgtspējība, pārstrādājamība, iepakojums, zaļmaldināšana, patērētāji, ēdināšanas nozare The Bachelor’s paper "Factors affecting consumer behaviour when buying and recycling sustainable packaging: analysis of the catering sector (takeaway and delivery)" identifies and assesses the factors affecting consumer behaviour in buying and recycling sustainable packaging through research and analysis of the catering sector (takeaway and delivery). The paper consists of a theoretical part, methodological part, empirical part and conclusions. The theoretical part describes sustainability and related concepts, greenwashing, explanations of consumer behaviour, and a separate chapter is devoted to green market segmentation and consumer profiling. The study included focus group discussions, interviews with industry experts, and an online survey of consumers (users of takeaway and delivery services). The paper concludes that while there is some awareness and support for sustainable packaging, consumer awareness and understanding of the topic and related aspects (such as buying and recycling options) could be improved. Most consumers recognize the environmental benefits of sustainable packaging, but they are reluctant to pay higher prices for such solutions. In the course of the study, the shortcomings of "green" packaging were identified, and recommendations were developed for more successful promotion of sustainable packaging in the Latvian market. Keywords: sustainability, recyclability, packaging, greenwashing, consumers, catering sector
