Kopienu loma latviešu sociālajā integrācijā Lielbritānijā

Abstract

Bakalaura darba tēma ir ‘’Kopienu loma latviešu sociālajā integrācijā Lielbritānijā’’. Darba mērķis bija noskaidrot kā latviešu kopienas ietekmē Bredfordā dzīvojošo latviešu integrēšanos procesu Lielbritānijas sabiedrībā. Lai sasniegtu bakalaura darba mērķi tika veiktas deviņas daļēji strukturētas intervijas ar Bredfordā un tās apkārtnē dzīvojošiem latviešiem, kā arī, tika veikta interneta aptauja. Bakalaura darbā tika izmantota segmentētā asimilācijas teorija un sociālā kapitāla teorija, kas dziļāk apskatīta tieši no piesaistošā un savienojošā formas. Darbā tika aprakstīti arī Bredfordā pieejamie latviešu kopienas pasākumi un amatierkolektīvi. Bakalaura darbā tika noskaidrots kāda loma ir latviešu kopienai sociālās integrēšanās procesā, kā tā ietekmē, paātrina vai gluži otrādi, palēnina latviešu integrēšanās procesu Lielbritānijas sabiedrībā. Darbā tika secināts, ka latviešu kopienas loma galvenokārt ir nodrošināt emocionālu atbalstu latviešiem un saglabāt saikni ar latviešu kultūru, valodu un vērtībām atrodoties Lielbritānijā, kā arī tiek secināts, ka latvieši ar laiku integrējas vietējā sabiedrībā dziļāk, tomēr integrējoties vietējā sabiedrībā netiek zaudētas saiknes ar latviešu kopienu.

The topic of the bachelor thesis is "The role of communities in the social integration of Latvians in Great Britain". The aim of the work was to find out how Latvian communities influence the integration process of Latvians living in Bradford into British society. In order to achieve the goal of the bachelor thesis, nine semi-structured interviews were conducted with Latvians living in Bradford and its surroundings, as well as an internet survey. The bachelor thesis used the segmented theory of assimilation and the theory of social capital, which was examined in depth directly from the form of bonding and bridging. The work also described Latvian community events and amateur collectives available in Bradford. In the bachelor's thesis, it was clarified what role the Latvian community plays in the process of social integration, how it affects, accelerates or, on the contrary, slows down the process of integration of Latvians into British society. The work concluded that the role of the Latvian community is mainly to provide emotional support to Latvians and maintain a connection with Latvian culture, language and values while in Great Britain, and it is also concluded that Latvians integrate more deeply with time into the local society, however, when integrating into the local society, they do not lose ties with Latvian community.
