Augmented reality is a term that describes the technology that interactively combines information from the real world with data from a computer in realtime. During recent years augmented reality technology has gained a significant popularity due to rapid evolution of mobile devices.
This thesis begins with a theoretical insight into the augmented reality technology. Then it continues with the analysis of possible augmented reality implementations in Apple iPhone smartphones and software development aspects of the iOS SDK environment.
The second part describes development of an augmented reality iPhone application that displays information about nearby places in the camera viewfinder, by calculating their orientation from the sensor data available on the device.
