The aim of the author of the DP is to explore the ways of using video materials which contribute to the development of speaking skills and carry out the evaluation of the results which show students’ improvement in speaking during English lessons when video is used. In the course of the research various theoretical and practical methods have been applied, including a summative analysis of literature, a case study and several research tools - questionnaires, an interview and classroom observation. The data obtained indicate that frequent use of video materials can favour the development of students’ speaking skills in secondary school. The results and conclusions of this DP might be useful for teachers to gain insights into the ways of using video which promote really attractive follow-up discourse what is conductive to the development of students’ speaking skills.
