Main aim of the study was to find out the relationship between attachment style and risky driving. Research hypotheses: 1. Drivers secure attachment style predict safe driving; 2. Drivers unsecure attachment style predict risky driving.
83 drivers participated (38 women, 45 men), in the study they were aged from 20 to 72 years, their driving expierence was from 1 to 50 years.
The study was based on two questionnaires. Drivers Behaviour Questionnaire/ DBQ- Reason, Manstead, Stradling, Baxter & Campbell, 1996. Adapted in Latvian by Renge and Austers (2007). The Relationship Questionaire/ RQ- Bartholomeow & Horowitz, 1991. Latvian version by Bite (2002). Questionnaires was filled out individually and were sent through social networks.
Conclusions were made: the both hypotheses were not confirmed. There were statistically significant connection between drivers secure attachment style and violations (rs=0,31, p< 0,01). There were statistically significant connection between drivers secure attachment style and errors (rs=0,26, p< 0,05). There were statistically significant connection between drivers preoccupied attachment style and violations (rs=0,28, p< 0,05). There were statistically significant connection between drivers preoccupied attachment style and errors (rs=0,24 , p< 0,05).
Key words: attachment style, drivers behaviour, drivers.
