Līdz ar tehnoloģiju progresu būtiski pieaug informācijas apjoms. Visu vairs nav iespējams iemācīties un tas pat arī nav vajadzīgs. Būtiski ir iemācīties, kā atrast nepieciešamo informāciju un kā ar to strādāt. Lai to apgūtu, ir jāattīsta mācīšanās kompetence un tajā skaitā nozīmīga tās sastāvdaļa – informācijas pratība. Bakalaura darbā tiek apskatīts mācīšanās kompetences ietvars, lai saprastu cik lielā mērā informācijas pratība tajā iekļaujas. Tiek analizēta informācijas pratības būtība, tās komponenti un modeļi. Apskatītas mācību organizācijas formas informācijas pratības attīstībai, apkopoti labās prakses piemēri informācijas pratības attīstībai skolā, analizēts konkursa izmantošanas potenciāls informācijas pratības attīstībai. Empīriskajā daļā analizēti konkursu uzdevumi un to potenciāls informācijas pratības attīstībai.

All of it is no longer possible to learn and it is not even necessary. It is essential to learn how to find the information you need and how to work with it. To acquire how to learn is to develop learning to learn competence and its major component - information literacy. Bachelor's work is viewed within the learning to learn competence to understand to what extent information literacy fit in it; analyzed of the nature of information literacy, its components and models and viewed training organization forms of information literacy development, collected examples of the best practice for the development of information literacy at school, analyzed the potential use of the contest for the development of information literacy. In the empirical part was analyzed the competition tasks and their potential role for the development of information literacy.
