Atslēgvārdi: Strukturālais bezdarbs, cikliskais bezdarbs, bezdarba risks, neatbilstība, probit regresija The research analyses the nature of the change in the unemployment from 2002 to 2010 in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The decomposition of the change in unemployment rate according to the occupation and the sector shows that the structural unemployment rate in the Baltic countries has slightly decreased, but the change does not exceed 1%. During the crisis the changes in the unemployment rate were largely cyclical. The labour market mismatch analysis does not identify significant changes in the mismatch. In order to decrease the unemployment rate it is important to raise the demand within the economy, as well as to provide training for the unemployed. According to the probit regression analysis people in elementary occupations, construction and manufacturing are most exposed to the unemployment risk. Managers, specialists, people in agriculture and public sector are less prone to the unemployment risk.
