Peat sorbents modified with iron, iron humates, polymeric cation exchanger modified with iron, chloro metylated poly styrene-divinylbenzene modified with polyethylene imine, peat modified with chitosan and peat graft polymere were prepared for sorption of arsenic compounds. Sorption of arsenic onto peat, on modified peat sorbents as well as on comercially produced sorbents and imobilized humic acids were investigated. The highest sorption capacity was observed using iron modified peat sorbents. Sorption of arsenic compounds on iron modified peat sorbents and comercially produced sorbent was investigated as a function of pH and temperature. Sorption at different pH values was dependent of arsenic form present in solution. It was established that sorption capacity increases with raising of the temperature. Calculated thermodynamic parameters indicate the spontaneity of sorption process, and it has endothermic nature.
