Media creates youth identity by providing definite gender images.
Theoretical part - gender, socialization, its agents, stereotypes and media influence. Methodology – qualitative research methods. In the research the reproduced gender stereotypes in magazines are analyzed as well as the youth and magazine redactor attitude towards stereotypes.
The hypothesis of “Youth adapts the gender stereotypes expressed in youth magazines Sīrups and PUFF, in order to fit into the overall youth environment that requests a concrete image, attitude and value orientation” is approved during this paper.
Gender stereotypes in magazines are widespread, youth are adapting and strengthening the images reproduced in magazines. In the society and also in the environment of youth stereotype changes are slowly happening.
