Sociālā uzņēmējdarbība ir uzņemējdarbības veids, kad uzņēmums ražo preces vai sniedz pakalpojumus ar mērķi risināt kādas sociālas problēmas, tā vietā, lai gūtu finansiālu labumu uzņēmuma īpašniekiem. Sociālais uzņēmējs ir indivīds, kas nodarbojas ar sociālo uzņēmējdarbību.
Pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot, kādi faktori ietekmē sociāla uzņēmuma izveidi Latvijā. Par pētījuma teorētisko bāzi tiek izmantotas cilvēkkapitāla un sociālā kapitāla teorijas. Pētījuma empīriskajā daļā tiek apskatīti sociālie uzņēmumi, kas darbojas Latvijā vismaz divus gadus. Datu iegūšanas metode ir daļēji strukturētās intervijas ar sešiem Latvijas sociālajiem uzņēmējiem un diviem topošajiem sociālajiem uzņēmējiem. Darbā tiek secināts, ka gan cilvēkkapitāls, gan arī sociālais kapitāls ir nozīmīgs faktors sociāla uzņēmuma izveidē. Social entrepreneurship is a type of business, where the company produces goods or services with the aim to solve social problems, rather than produce the financial gain to the company's owners. Social entrepreneur is a person who is engaged with social entrepreneurship.
The main aim of this research is to find out what factors influence the establishment of a social company in Latvia. Two theories – social capital theory and human capital theory - constitute a theoretical framework of the thesis. The empirical study investigates social companies, which have been operating at least for two years in Latvia. Six semi - structured interviews with Latvian social entrepreneurs and two emerging social entrepreneurs were conducted. The results of the study shows that both human capital and social capital are important factors influencing the establishment of social company in Latvia.
