This work describes study about object counting from images. Work describes known solutions for this problem and presents new method called Statistical object counting from image. New method is able to count objects with similar size and form similar to circle or ellipse. Method does not separate every object; instead, it makes assumption about object count based on statistical data obtained from the binary image. Statistical object counting method was tested on images with human life cells, oranges and tablets. Method precision is considered good enough, for example, it calculates overlapping and differently sized and shaped human body cells with 8% average error. Method’s forte is good performance and ability to work with different kind of objects without prior configuration.
