Atslēgvārdi: Hipersaite, hipersaites publicēšana, tiesības komunicēt darbu ar sabiedrību, autortiesību pārkāpums, internets The aim of this study is to determine how hyperlinking is defined under existing copyright law and to identify in what circumstances hyperlinking may cause copyright infringement. Through hyperlinks different works can be easily accessed through the Internet, but often it is in the interests of copyright holders to limit the dissemination of their works in such manner. Protection of copyrights clashes with freedom of speech and freedom to exchange information, thus balancing those rights is crucial in the Internet environment. Therefore it is described in this master thesis in what circumstances users of the Internet may freely hyperlink to different works, and when the permission of the right holder should be sought prior to posting a hyperlink to a certain work to avoid infringing copyrights. Keywords: Hyperlink, hyperlinking, right of communication to the public, copyright infringement, the Internet
