Šim mērķim tika izvēlēta Rozenberga pašcieņas aptauja (Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Rosenberg, 1965, adaptēta Latvijā – A.Miltuze, 1996) un Švarca vērtību aptauja (SVS, Schwartz Value Survey, Schwartz, 1992; adaptēta Latvijā – I.Austers, 2002). The aim of this research is to discover whether there are differences in values and self-esteem between two groups: 1) students who are involved and 2) students who are not involved in student self-governing bodies, and to dicover relationship between self-esteem and values. Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965, adapted in Latvia – A.Miltuze, 1996) and Schwartz value survey (SVS, Schwartz, 1992; adapted in Latvia – Austers, 2002) were used for this aim. 132 students from different higher education institutions in Latvia participated in this research (75 were student representatives and 57 were students who are not involved in student representation). Research results show, that there are no statistically significant differences between self-esteem and there are no statistically significant differences between value orientation of these student groups. There is positive raltionship between self-esteem and five values: conformity, security, achievement, stimulation and self-direction.
