At a time, when there is an active discussion about the possibilities of implementing of the advocate's procedure in Latvia and the extent of this possibility, there still are some ambiguities in conjunction with the authorization of an advocate for carrying out several different civil-procedural actions. The term "advocate" itself and its meaning within the context of civil procedure law is unclear and unsatisfying, therefore the author has made this research not only to promote and encourage the uniform understanding and use of the aforementioned questions of law, but also to assist in a faster and higher-quality implementation of advocate's process in Latvia, thus, reducing the loaded and over-laden courts and making the court processes more effective. Key words: civil procedure. advocate, assistance of an advocate, representation, legal assistance, order, advocate's process.
