Atslēgas vārdi: augsnes mezofauna, augsnes sīkposmkāji, Engures ezera dabas parks, ILTER The bachelor’s thesis was done in “Engures ezers” Nature park and its surrounding area. Research is made on soil mesofauna diversity and its distribution in different biotops. The selected research plots are included in ILTER (International Longt Term Ecological Research network) program. The study was carried out to examine the diversity and abundance of soil mesofauna and microbial population in different habitats. The composition, diversity and abundance of soil mesofauna varied among the six biotops – 2 pine dominated boreal forests, 2 spruce-birch dominated boreal forests, 2 grassland’s. There are information included about soil mesofauna, its most abundant specimens and “Engures ezers” nature park and the surrounding vegetation. The author of the research have acquired knowledge on extraction methods of soil fauna, its taxonomical identification and distribution patterns as well as the knowledge on ecology of soil fauna. The bachelor thesis consists of 3 main parts : literature overview, materials and methods, results and discussion. There are conclusions and author's interpretation included in the bachelor thesis. Keywords: soil mesofauna, soil arthropods, ecology, “Engures ezers” Nature park, ILTER
