Bakalaura darbā apskatīts amerikāņu pārākuma attēlojums datorspēlē “BioShock Infinite” un tās naratīva struktūra. Pētījuma rezultātā tika izlemts noskaidrot, kādas ir datorspēles naratīva struktūras, kādi ir amerikāņu pārākumu apzīmējošie elementi un to nozīme, kā arī izskaidrot datorspēles kā medija funkcionēšanu. Teorētiskajā daļā apkopota literatūra par datorspēļu daudzveidību un pētīšanu, antiutopiju un amerikāņu pārākumu, savukārt metodoloģijas daļā raksturotas naratīva un semiotiskā analīze, lauka pētījums. Empīriskajā daļā pēc izvēlētām metodēm tika analizēta pētāmā datorspēle, balstoties uz analīžu rezultātiem tika izdarīti secinājumi par spēles naratīva struktūru un amerikāņu pārākuma attēlojumu. The bachelor’s thesis discusses the representation of American exceptionalism in the computer game “BioShock Infinite” and its narrative structure. The goal of the research was to discover types of narrative structures in the computer game, the elements representing American exceptionalism and their meanings and to describe computer game’s functionality as a medium. The theoretical part consists of literature on the diversity and research of computer games, dystopia and American exceptionalism, methodology includes narrativ and semiotic analysis and field work. The chosen computer game was analysed in the empirical part, and conclusions on the representation of American exceptionalism and computer games as media were made based on the results of the analysis.
