| en_US |
dc.description.abstract | The PhD thesis is devoted to the reception of the myth about Tristan and Isolde in the
Russian culture of the first half of the XX century. The poetic texts (more than 25)
that have created a conceptually unified Russian invariant of Tristan and Isolde story
are gathered and analysed in the thesis. The special attention is paid to two main
problems: the demand for the story felt at the end of the 19th and beginning of the XX
century and clarification of the sources of the legend significant for the Russian
culture. The research shows that the reception of the myth about Tristan and Isolde is
a complicated and heterogeneous process. The personal contacts with Richard
Wagner, the interest in the frames of neomythologism towards the medieval
literatures, as well as the desire to find the way out of the crisis situation (after WWI
and revolution) applying to the eternal values that are embodied in the myth
(including the myth about Tristan and Isolde), served as an impulse for the reception
process in the Russian culture.
Keywords: myth about Tristan and Isolde, neomythologism, comparative literature,
reception, invariant, Russian poetry of the Silver Age and emigration. | en_US |
