The master’s thesis “Virtual Learning Platform Minecraft Education Edition to Develop Students’ Programming Skills in Computer Science Lessons” investigates whether the use of interactive games-based learning platforms in computer lessons according to the methodology developed by researchers can develop students’ programming skills. The research methodology is an action study. The researchers find out whether the trial-and-error method, practicing on the virtual learning platform Microsoft Minecraft Education Edition in the 5th grade computer programming classes, is a suitable didactic technique. In turn, the cognitive ability test assesses whether programming skills develop during the optional lessons for different types of cognitive abilities. The study found that regardless of the students’ dominant type of cognition, learners were able to complete programming tasks by trial-and-error method. The results of the final test confirm the development of students’ knowledge level. The Master’s thesis consists of 90 pages, 2 tables, 22 figures and 14 appendices.
