Viena trešdaļa no respondentiem nezināja, ka uztura bagātinātāji var mijiedarboties savā starpā. 22% respondentu uzskatīja, ka uztura bagātinātāja forma neietekmē to absorbciju organismā. Kopumā pētījuma rezultāti liecina, ka ne visi uztura bagātinātāju patērētāji ir informēti par to pareizu lietošanu. Dietary supplements are defined as food products in the form of concentrated nutrients intended to supplement the normal diet. They are sold in dosage forms (e.g. tablets, capsules, liquids in measured amounts) to be included in the daily diet. Since dietary supplements are considered food products and are freely available for everyday use, it is important that consumers know how to use them correctly and safely. The goal of the present bachelor's paper is to describe the production technologies of popular dietary supplements and to evaluate their compositions in different forms, as well as to assess the level of knowledge among dietary supplement consumers (e.g. whether consumers know about dietary supplement interactions) and collect information on consumers’ consumption habits. The research has revealed that the most popular nutritional supplements among respondents are vitamin D, vitamin C and omega-3 fatty acids. Surprisingly, 76% of respondents do not agree with the statement that dietary supplements are food products. This group of respondents consider that dietary supplements are medication because they have a physiological effect. One third of respondents were unaware that dietary supplements could interact with each other. 22% of respondents thought that the dietary supplement form did not affect their absorption in the body. Overall, the results of the study show that not all consumers of dietary supplements are informed about their correct use.
