The goal of the Bachelor thesis is to determine the possible restrictions of the rights of work seekers in the European Union within the legal framework. The status of the work seekers is determined and the influence of the work seeker’s rights on the employer’s rights is researched. Current restrictions on the free movement of the workforce within the European Union is examined and a researched on the possibility of new restrictions is performed.
On January 1st 2014, the restrictions that were temporarily imposed on Romania and Bulgaria upon entering the European Union were completely annulled. This caused discussions among some member countries about additional restrictions for the movement of the work force, especially regarding economically inactive persons, including work seekers. The thesis analyses whether it is possible to impose additional restrictive measures regarding work seekers within the EU, without breaching the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.
