Competences of Foster Families” reflects social pedagogic activities for support of foster
families in order to ensure the socialisation process of children left without parents’ care.
In the theoretical part of the diploma paper foster families’ legal status and
development of the movement are examined, as well as the competences necessary for the
foster families.
In the diploma paper a research about families which have taken part in the foster
families’ movement was carried out, and problems that foster families come into contact with
were investigated. A social pedagogic plan for solving three foster families’ problems was
developed, its approbation was carried out and the obtained results were analysed.
The research attested that foster parents are able to provide their children suitable
living conditions in a good family atmosphere. Problems which are more difficult to solve are
connected with local authority and education institutions.
