Priekšstati par izglītības vērtību Latvijā: LU SZF maģistra studiju programmu piemērs
Abstract
Darba mērķis ir noskaidrot maģistra izglītības vērtību sociālajās zinātnes sabiedrības acīs, kāpēc studenti izvēlas iegūt maģistra grādu, kā viņi paši, kā darba devēji vērtē maģistra izglītību sociālajās zinātnēs, konkrētāk apskatīju LU SZF piemēru. Darbā izmantoju trīs metodes: kvantitatīvu maģistra un bakalaura studentu aptauju, ekspertu intervijas un maģistra studentu fokusgrupas diskusiju.
Rezultāti liecina, ka maģistra studentu galvenais motivējošais faktors maģistra studijām, ir jaunu zināšanu ieguve, savukārt bakalaura studenti norāda, ka maģistra diploms ir nozīmīgs darba tirgū un nepieciešams veiksmīgai karjeras attīstībai. Darba devējiem maģistra diploms ir maznozīmīgs, svarīgākas ir zināšanas un prasmes. Eksperti uzskata, ka bakalaura izglītība ir obligāta nepieciešamība, savukārt maģistra izglītība pagaidām nav ieguvusi šādu statusu.

There are three methods used to collect different opinions: quantitative polling (bachelor’s and master’s degrees students), interviewing experts and having focus-group discussion between students of master’s degree.
As the summarized results show, current master’s degree students point acquiring new knowledge as the main reason that motivates them to study for master’s degree. Bachelor’s degree students point the importance of master’s degree in labour market- it enhances competitiveness and makes successful career more possible. Employers see master’s degree diploma less important than real work experience and knowledge. Experts find bachelor’s degree as obligation in labour market, whereas master’s degree is not seen in such matter.
