Demographic aging is now a worldwide issue. One of the signs of aging is the reduction of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid caused by increased enzyme collagenase, elastase and hyaluronidase activity. Plants polyphenols have been found to be inhibitors of these enzymes that allows to use them as a protective agents for cartilage and skin tissues. The aim of the study was to find out the effects of five Vaccinium genus berry pomace extracts on the activity of elastase, collagenase and hyaluronidase in in vitro tests. The results show that all five pomace extracts inhibit activities of these enzymes. The extracts of blueberry, bog cranberry and lingonberry pomaces already at a concentration of 0.5 mg/ml showed 100% hyaluronidase inhibition, while in collagenase assays at an extract concentration of 1 mg/ml, maximum inhibition was 30%.
