Atslēgvārdi: EM konvekcija, Lorenca spēks, stikla kausēšana The mathematical model is developed for numerical investigation of EM and thermal convection in the crucible system with immersed electrodes. The goal is predicting the distribution of temperature in the model crucible and determining parameters of the experimental system which ensure high homogeneity of the temperature field of the melt required for high quality of the product. Coupled EM, hydrodynamic and heat transfer equations have been solved using ANSYS CFX software. The impact of the Lorentz force on the flow of glass melt is analysed in 2D and 3D, non-inductive approximation has been used.
Results are in qualitatively good agreement with the experimental data and show assumptions of the model to be reasonable. Further systematic investigations have been found to be necessary for optimisation of the experimental system.
