Image segmentation has numerous applications in various fields, one of them being robotics. Based on research in image segmentation for the IURO robot accomplished during a study internship, three methods of image segmentation will be observed in the following thesis: the Markov random field, the conditional random field and the fuzzy metric filter.
The objective is to present these three algorithms, unveil their advantages and analyze their mathematical justification in order to provide their practical demonstration afterwards.
In the first part, the obtained results give a higher knowledge of algorithms used in image segmentation from the mathematical/theoretical point of view. In the second part, the application of the given methods in image segmentation is demonstrated.
