Radiation defects have been studied in oxyfluoride glasses and glass-ceramics after irradiation with X-rays. Methods of optical absorption and thermostimulated luminescence have been used. Three-dimensional data arrays with thermostimulated luminescence intensity dependence on wavelength and temperature were obtained.
It is observed that the absorption spectrum is nearly independent on crystallites and activators, however, the thermostimulated luminescence spectra are very dependent on crystallites and activators. Glass-ceramic sample activated with terbium showed higher absorption and luminescence intensity than the other samples.
It is concluded that observed color centers are mostly created in the glass matrix, whereas the thermoluminescence trap centers are dependent on crystallites and activators. Defects are formed at higher concentration in the glass-ceramics activated with terbium, compared to the other doped samples.
