Subjekti. Eksperimentā piedalījās 123 subjekti: bērni vecumā no 2–7 gadiem.

Purpose. The goal of this research is to find out whether it is possible to examine color vision of pre-school children by using Fransworth D15 test and Velhagen– Broschmann pseudoisochromatic plates, that are meant to be used in examining adults.
Subjects. 123 subjects participated in experiment – children aged 2-7 years.
Results. Naming method can be used for age 6 to 7 in 98,2±0,8% of cases, and it is not suitable for use with children younger than 4 years. Selection and drawing methods can be used for 100% of children older than 4, but is not suitable for use with children younger than 3 years. In age of 3 credible answers can be expected in 80±7% of all cases. Farnsworth D15 provided credible answers in 89,2±0,8% of cases. Color vision defects were discovered in 4,2±0,2%.
Conclusions. Using pseudoisochromatic plates color vision can be examined starting from age of 3 years up, but using Farnsworth D15 – starting with age of 5. Plates shows better performance than Farnsworth D15 does for children ranging from 5 to 7 years.
For children from 5 to 7 years Velhagen-Broschmann plates can be used as an equivalent to CVTME test.
