Master paper is written in Latvian and consists of 54 pages, contains 34 drawings, 10 tables and 38 sources of literature are used. The aim of the paper is to investigate the influence of CL material on the tear osmolarity.Subjects: CL wearers (n=12), control group (n=12) Methods: TearLab osmometer for measuring osmolarity, OSDI questionnaire for evaluating the comfort level. Assesment of bulbar hyperemia. Results: Osmolarity among CL wearers was 295,8±4,8 mOsm/L, some osmolarity oscillations were observed among CL wearers during the day (p=0,04). OSDI shows correlation with the level of osmolarity when using Hy contact lenses (r=0,28). The correlation between the bulbar hyperemia and osmolarity (r=0,49).Conclusion: Hy CL influence the initial osmolarity and comfort level.Key words: osmolarity, dry eye, contact lens, tear film.
