The aim of this Bachelor's thesis is to develop the optimal model for learning the basics of Programming in the Mathematics courses of the University of Latvia.
In this paper, the author explores and evaluates the placement and the role of Computer Science courses, as well as the opportunities for studying the subject in Mathematics study programs in Latvia and Europe.
Based on the research, the optimal framework for studying the basics of Programming in the Mathematics undergraduate study program in the University of Latvia is developed. Moreover, taking into account the specific nature of the study program, exact recommendations are developed for the improvement of the courses: Programming and Computers I and II.
A review of the programming language choices is suggested as the most important action for the improvement of these courses.
