The Bachelor Thesis “Crowding effect in peripheral vision” is written in Latvian, contains 41 printed pages, 27 figures, 3formula and 26 references to other works.
The aim: Evaluate crowding effect in periphery with people reading skills and to check whether the right side of the visual field the crowding effect is smaller than in the left side.
Methods: Measurements were made in the right and the left side of the visual field.
Results: It was observed that increasing the spacing between letters, the middle letter visibility improves, so the crowding effect is reduced. Between right and left visual field side the middle letter visibility reduces. Subjects, who are day to day readers, crowding effect occur in fewer than those who are reluctant to read and do it relatively slowly.
Key words: crowding effect, periphery, isolation fields, reading speed, eccentricity.
