The direct F-transform is a linear mapping from the set of continuous functions over the universe X (in this paper an interval [a;b]) to a vector space, where the components of the vector characterizes the function accordingly to the chosen fuzzy partition of X. The inverse F-transform maps the vector, obtained by the direct transform, to a function which approximates the original function. A generalization of this approach is F-transform of higher degree which produces a vector of polynomial components.
The properties of the direct and inverse F-transforms heavily depend on the chosen fuzzy partition of X. In this paper we consider transformations' properties when the fuzzy partition is generated by B-splines; it is shown that the proposed choice of partition allows one to significantly increase the quality of approximation of a function, approximating it with its inverse Fm-transform.
